State-of-the-Art Training Institute : POWERGRID Academy of Leadership (PAL)
A 23-acre knowledge park in Manesar, Gurgaon, the POWERGRID Academy of Leadership (PAL) is a Category‑I Grade ‘A’ training institute for the transmission sector, recognised by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ministry of Power. It is a state-of-the-art institute of learning in technology and management, set up by POWERGRID at Manesar.
With a strong pool of experienced subject‑matter experts, PAL provides best‑in‑class classroom and hands-on training using real‑world transmission assets, simulators, and field‑based demonstrations for power utility professionals in India and abroad, encompassing the full spectrum of transmission project development—from concept and design through construction, commissioning, and operation and maintenance.
The PAL complex further provides access to multiple specialized facilities, including the POWERGRID Transmission Experience Centre for hands‑on training on EHV equipment in a safe and monitored environment; the National Transmission Asset Management Centre (NTAMC) for centralized remote control and monitoring of substations; and the POWERGRID Advanced Research and Technology Centre (PARTeC), which supports research, analysis, testing, calibration, and efficient asset management in alignment with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar initiative.
The campus also features a 400/220 kV GIS substation, offering live exposure to modern transmission infrastructure.
PAL embodies a rich repository of technical and operational expertise, effectively delivered through POWERGRID’s highly experienced employees, who bring over 30 years of domain experience in the transmission sector. This vast collective expertise has contributed to POWERGRID’s consistent achievement of an exceptional transmission system availability of over 99.85%, reflecting its strong operational excellence and reliability. The faculty pool comprises seasoned professionals with extensive field exposure across the entire lifecycle of EHV transmission systems, including planning, design, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance. Their hands‑on experience in addressing real‑world grid challenges, coupled with proficiency in advanced protection systems, substation technologies, and emerging domains such as PMUs and digital substations, enables them to deliver training programmes that are both technically robust and application‑oriented. By seamlessly integrating practical insights with structured learning methodologies, participants not only develop a strong conceptual understanding but also acquire hands‑on proficiency, equipping them to effectively handle complex operational scenarios and contribute to the reliable and efficient functioning of modern transmission systems.
